ECIC supports a broad-based advisory committee on the issues of pediatric and family health. The goal of the Pediatric and Family Health Committee is to provide advice that will inform ECIC’s work to:
- Support the local Great Start System infrastructure
- Advance the Great Start System result: Infants, young children and their families are physically healthy.
- Increase knowledge regarding evidence-based practices
- Develop recommendations for innovative early childhood policy
- Provide education to the public to increase public understanding
- Increase public and private investment
The committee focuses on comprehensive physical health and child development services including screening, assessment, intervention as well as timely and appropriate referral for specialized services.
Committee Objectives:
- Members represent the diversity of Michigan’s population
- Members have a shared understanding of the contributions each makes to the success of the Pediatric and Family Health component of the early childhood system
- Members engage in generative dialogue that informs the respective work of membership
- Members choose to collaborate on projects of shared concern.
- Members plan and host an annual convening
- Members oversee preparation of at least one written report from to educate state-wide.
The committee is focusing on:
- A medical home action plan
- Federal Health Care reform
- State Children’s Health Program CHIPRA, formerly SCHIP
